Good growing, good practice can help keep our planet healthy
On this page, we shall be laying out some detailed methods of simple steps you can take to keep the life of our world in good shape, and save yourself time effort and money.

Vegetarians don't love animals - they hate plants
A tree is a beautiful, life giving thing. Don't just slaughter it without thought, treat all life with care
Living trees. Why Kill a tree for Christmas
A living tree will carry on from year to year. The best species could even become a faimly heirloom, a story of Christmas and Christmas yet to come. From us, they cost less than a good quality cut Christmas Tree on the outskirts of London. When the festive season ends, you have a lovely plant to grace you patio for the coming year, until it is brought in fot the fortnight of celebration in December. All this time, the living tree contributes to the health of the planet - saving pocket, saving waste, saving life.

How things are progressing - trial types
The trees aren't the fastest things in the world, but we have a number of different types on trial. In addition to having a living tree, one advantage is that a tree growing in a large pot doesn't need any fiddling with to try and get it to stand. You do, however, need to give them a little water when indoors, so have to take care with electrics

A work of continuing research
As time goes on, we'll be adding more trial types, updating photographs, gaining more information. We have already learned that Abies procera and concolor don't take well to pot culture. Abies grandis appear fine in survival terms, but until it gets bigger and adopts a fuller form, we won't be sure. Nordmann firs (Abies nordmanii) appear to do well, but we don't yet know if they can be stopped and kept, or if they will outgrow pot culture and be unsuitable for more than a couple of years. We are adding Douglas firs, Pinus radiata, contorta latifolia, nigra maritima, muricata, picea engelmanii and omorika (for those seeking a slender form) plus picea glauca this year to our trial species. We hope to find good specimens which take well to pot culture and can provide a tree for many years.

Sequoiadendron giganteum - Magic Trees
The biggest tree in the world will bonsai beautifully. They have a magical air and are developing well. We hope the first of these will be ready by Christmas 2002, about five ft tall.

Young Scots Pine, about 3ft
Beginning to take shape, with luck it will be ready for Christmas next year; Christmas trees are much slower to grow than turkeys, which only take a year.
