We have dozens of these as well as eucalypts, and Guess What....
they're all in the catalogue. I've probably missed a couple though, so it might be worth asking. We're also quite good at cooperating with other nurseries, so if you can't find a plant you want, we might be able to find it for you.
The many ways of using trees and shrubs.
Trees and shrubs can provide the basic architecture of a garden, avenue, park, container or window box.They can be used to provide colour, change, shape, fruit, shelter and surprise. Used in combination with other plants, some spectacular effects can be produced. Colour can be gained at any time of year, using stem, leaf, flower and berry. Trees and shubs support wildlife, and can help keep maintenamce of the garden at a low level -many selections of shrubs need little attention over the year
One or Two Examples
Berberis darwinii, evergreen, small holly like leaves to about a metre height and spread. Bright yellow flowers in spring. Underplant with primulas and thalictrum delawayi. The primulas provide early colour and a long season,the bush flowers brilliantly though march, and the elegant thalictrum grows up though the bush and flowers later in the season, often through october. By this time the berries add a new colour. All year colour, frequent change, little work.

On a bigger scale, Eucalyptus mitchelliana, plant a climber at the bottom of the tree. In addition to the natural all year beauty and flowers on the tree, the contrast of this and, say, a clematis erupting in bloom at a later season is breathtaking.

Living Structures
With a basic knowledge of a few simple techniques, plants such as willows can be trained and pressure grafted to grow into all sorts of things - pergolas, seats, tables or living sculptures.

Evergreens planted in squares can be clipped and pruned then the inners removed, leaving the cover. They grow into a surprisingly weatherproof structure giving shelter and shade. A seat inside and your living summerhouse is there.

A little imagination and a little knowledge, the right shrubs for your requirements and your garden is truly unique.
